Leon Trotsky, Lenin's second-in-command, became Secretary-General of the USSR in January 1917 following the assassination of Lenin by a German secret agent. As Secretary-General of the USSR, he led the war on the EA Powers from 1919 to 1924. He was captured by Romanov rebels on 31 July 1924. He was handed over to the EA powers, who judged him. He was executed by Romanov troops in March 1926.
