abstract
| - The Master of the World was a B-22 Lancer II strategic bomber of the UNSC Air Force, and later the United Rebel Front. Manufactured in 2523 in preparation for a predicted full-on civil war between the Insurrectionists and United Nations Space Command in the Outer Colonies, the aircraft was deployed to Mamore, where it took part in striking multiple Insurrectionist strongholds. In 2536, the weapons systems officer of the aircraft, who was an Insurrectionist plant, as well two other aircrew from the Venezian Colonial Legion who had infiltrated the base under the guise of enlisted aircrew, defected to the URF along with the aircraft. Although the UNSC Air Force and Navy scrambled fighters to shoot down the Master of the World, it disappeared into a hurricane, and was presumed lost. However, the aircraft and its crew survived, flying at low level over uninhabited areas, and safely landed at a remote URF base in the frozen tundra of Mamore's arctic regions. Due to a lack of resources to fly the aircraft frequently, and the weather conditions needed for it to carry out a mission, the Master of the World only flew two successful combat missions, one bombing the main planetary spaceport, and the second during the Battle of Mato Grosso, where it destroyed the provincial capital's government sector. Its final mission was to fire a volley of seven standoff missiles at the planetary parliament building, where top UEG officials were meeting with Mamore planetary officials. However, the aircraft was intercepted and shot down by F-32 Skyhawk II fighters before it could launch its payload. All but one crewmember died in the crash. The lone survivor, the aircraft's navigator, in 2589, still imprisoned on Phobos, wrote a chronicle of the events on Mamore, titling it Fight To Master A World.
