He studied under the best private tutors of Naboo and speaks 5 languages fluently: Basic, Huttese, High Galactic, Rodese, and Bocce. He also has a basic understanding of Shyriiwook. He is also trained in Fencing and some Kung Fu. At fifteen he was sent to Coruscant to live with his uncle, the Senator. He studied at the University of Coruscant. He got his degree in Cultural Anthropology at the age of 21. His dissertation was “Jedi influence on culture over the centuries”. With his parents desires satisfied, he left for Yavin 8 to join the Jedi. Devaren Thutain Emalda VIII was born to Devaren Thutain Emalda VII and Cressina Liadra Otomel. Devaren's father, currently 56, is a Nubian politician, just like his father before him. His mother (54) manages the various family estates and investments. He is the youngest, with five older sisters. Marela Edral is the oldest, currently 36. She is an architect currently living on Naboo and is married to Tardaren Yiv Feloti, age 40. They have three daughters: Cressina Naria (16), Harelia Tira (8), and Lila Dranari (5). Tardaren is a Naboo diplomat. Devaren's second oldest sister is Yverra Sertonie (31), and she is a designer of high fashion currently living on Coruscant. Her husband, Hedro Welister Turenen (35), inherited a protocol droid manufacturing company. They have one daughter, Liadra Sarthia (6). Tressi Weritha (26) is the third oldest sister. She is married to Jet Reon Gutani (30), who is to inherit a space ship manufacturing company on Corellia, where they currently live. Tressi is a homemaker raising two daughters, Reli Sitalar (5) and Farla Harelia (3). The fourth sister's name is Radarithana Fari (24). She is unmarried and currently studying Gungan archaeology on Naboo. Her twin sister is Litra Utalia. Litra was recently wed to Yexel Div Drassina. They are both heavily involved with Naboo politics in Theed.
