(Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 5: Starships of the Romulan Star Empire) The Prelar consisted of a roughly rectangular main hull with a command hull connected to the forward end by a short neck. The ship's wings projected outward and sharply downwards from the main hull and at their tips were disruptor cannons. The nacelles were mounted where the wings met the main hull. The Prelar's main duties involved reconnaissance, courier duties and front-line combat. By the end of the Dominion War the Prelar was the most common class of its type in the Romulan Star Navy. Its success wad due to its excellent service record and its modular design that made it easy and quick to upgrade the vessel's key systems.
