Sam Adams is a city council member and mayor-elect of Portland, Oregon. In 2004 he was elected to the Portland City Council, defeating attorney Nick Fish. He won the race for Mayor of Portland in the May 2008 election, and will be the first openly gay mayor in the city's history.
