- Calamity Jane was a scout for the U.S. military (according to her, initially under Lt. Colonel George Armstrong Custer) and became famous for having known Wild Bill Hickok, even though their association lasted only a few weeks. She wore men's clothes, spat, cursed, drank and boasted that she could outshoot any man alive. However, she also demonstrated compassion by helping the sick and needy.
- Calamity Jane (1852-1903) is a frontierswoman, professional scout and performer in the late 19th century. Her legal name is Martha Jane Cannary Burke, but she acquired the nickname "Calamity Jane" during her service alongside the American military against the Native Americans. Jane also mentioned, if asked, that William Randolph Hearst had also started a trading business in the Olympus settlement, but claimed that her operation was superior to the one managed by "that stuffy rich fella."
- Martha Jane Cannary, better known as Calamity Jane (1852-1903), was an American pioneer and professional scout known for her heroic deeds and hard living. She performed in Wild West shows, wrote an autobiography, and became the subject of western dime novels. Some of her feats include rescuing a runaway stagecoach from a Cheyenne Indian war party, and helping to nurse patients during a smallpox epidemic in Deadwood, South Dakota. She's often noted for not dressing like a typical woman of the era, heavy drinking, and for being an excellent sharpshooter.

Text
| - A frontier woman who eschewed dresses and petticoats for "manly" clothes, Calamity Jane, born Martha Jane Burke, served as an army scout, a pony express rider, and as aide to George Armstrong Custer. Calamity is reputed to have been a prostitute and Wild Bill Hickok's mistress, but she refused to discuss this with me. On Mars, she quickly grew tired of the Martian cities and took to wandering the plains with Buffalo Bill. Together, they supplied oxium and other survival items to the city dwellers and planetary explorers.
