New manager Mark McGhee maintained his 100% record at the club with a 2–1 win over Bradford City. Goals from Lee Brown and Eliot Richards gave Rovers a two goal advantage, and when The Bantams had Rob Kozluk sent off midway through the second half The Pirates looked strong favourites to take the victory. However, a Dave Syers goal, a spirited Bradford performance and a strong penalty shout late in the game meant Rovers were lucky to escape with the three points.
