"Big Generator" (ビッグ・ジェネレイター Biggu Jenereitā?) is a song by Yes that appears on their 1987 album, Big Generator. The second half of it was originally sung in the Japanese version of Gunnm by Gally in Bar New Kansas, but the lyrics were reworked for the English release by Viz Media, most likely to avoid copyright issues. Notably this change also affected the audience's responses at two parts in the song, indicating that they are familiar with it: they originally belted out the words "Big Generator!" near the beginning and the final word at the end, "Movin!" In the English release they instead cheered "Alita!" at these two parts.

  • Big Generator's sessions dragged on for two years, largely due to creative differences. Guitarist Trevor Rabin was aiming to progress beyond 90125, while founding lead vocalist Jon Anderson was beginning to yearn for more traditional Yes music. The album may likely be reissued by Rhino Records with bonus tracks in 2007, as all previous Atlantic studio releases have been. It hadn't already since no additional material had been available, but unreleased demos may be pulled from the Warner vaults, or live material from 1988 used on the box set, Yesyears.

  • Big Generator's sessions dragged on for two years, largely due to creative differences. Guitarist Trevor Rabin was aiming to progress beyond 90125, while founding lead vocalist Jon Anderson was beginning to yearn for more traditional Yes music. The result was an album that was successful commercially and critically, birthing two hits in the process: "Love Will Find A Way" and "Rhythm Of Love" (their last in the US Top 40). But it was not as popular as 90125, and feeling that the band was going in a direction he didn't want to pursue, Jon Anderson began working on other projects at the conclusion of the Big Generator tour in 1988. Big Generator reached #17 in the UK. It reached #15 is the US during a chart stay of 30 weeks.
