Beside his successful theater career, Maguire appeared on-screen in the television series Police Story (1978, with Elinor Donahue and Leslie Parrish), Loving (1988), Quantum Leap (1992, starring Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell), Hearts Afire (1993), and Nowhere Man (1993, starring Bruce Greenwood). Film credits include the drama Where the Day Takes You (1992, with Robert Knepper and Christian Slater), the comedy Busted (1997, with Samantha Mudd), and Go Fish (2000). His scenes in the 1999 drama The Deep End of the Ocean were cut from the final version.
