After meeting Monique Duran and gradually falling in love with her, Adam began to reveal a livelier and warmer side to himself. Shortly after he and Monique became engaged, however, he was greeted with an unexpected return from Grayson, who eventually revealed herself to be a bolder and more ruthless woman than the one he'd loved. Grayson and Adam's best friend, Ben Singer, conspired to split up Adam and Monique, each with their own motives. After several failed attempts, Adam kicked Grayson out of their home and agreed to marry Monique. Adam also met his young son, who, unbeknownst to him at the time, Grayson had been pregnant with when she disappeared. In the epilogue of the series finale, Grayson was accidentally shot by a sniper she'd hired to disrupt Adam and Monique's wedding. She died in Adam's arms, wanting him to hold her. Adam, who'd gained custody of his son, later left town with Monique on their honeymoon.
