- Werecat (also referred to as Felinoid) is one of the three Demi-Human races in the world of Elder Tale and one of the eight races players can choose from.
- They also appear in the Witcher comic "Racja stanu".
- Beautiful and graceful, werecats in any form tend to attract the interest of passersby wherever they go. While some prefer the seclusion of the wilderness, others mingle freely with high society in cities (though they are always careful not to reveal their lycanthropic secret to their new friends.
- Werecats are sentient creatures with shapeshifting abilities, being able to take on the appearance of either a human or a large, shaggy cat. Whether they migrated to Alagaësia or were native to the land was unknown. They were quite rare: the few who were alive during Eragon's time did not often reveal themselves. Werecats were said to be very smart and dangerous at times. In Inheritance, it was revealed that werecats can command regular cats as well as their own kind. Some tension is shown between Angela and the werecats.
- Due to their moody personality, they might act violent towards a friendly gesture. However, they are a creature whose body speaks louder than their mouth. If the tail is straight and the eyes are downcast and avoiding contact with yours during a conversation, it means that the werecat wishes to be loved, even though her mouth might say otherwise. Also, should they catch a whiff of a “Matatabi” flower, they will fall into a drunken stupor and become more violent than when they are in heat.
- Werecats are therianthropic humans that appear in folklore spanning the globe for many centuries, although the actual term "werecat" has only been in use since the late nineteenth century. There are many versions of werecats from domesticated cats to werelions and they are counted among a large variety of were-animals from weredogs to werebears.
