Gliese 581 is affectionately named Persephone, which refers to both the planet itself, and the colony. The planet itself has a strong tropical belt, and a large coverage of water. Wessex retains a large portion of the planet as a Wessen Interplanetary Territory. Gliese 581g has been the focus of Wessen Scientific and Interplanetary Research, primarily conducted by the Wessex Space Exploration Fleet (WSEF), using Persephone as a staging post for missions further into space, and within the Gliese 581 System.
