The 18 Warlords are a group of humans who had appeared in ancient times who utilized very distinct, aged Pokémon individuals who could later be awoken as "Warlord Forms" via a technique called "Synchro Evolution", in which the Pokémon or its trainer have their emotions enter a sync with those of the Warlord they have the closest connection to. Unlike the Pokémon which appeared centuries ahead of their time, however, the Warlord Forms originated from Pokémon that had permanently acquired the form through their old age and intensive training to try and delay how long they would stay in their prime, which their own masters underwent similar training to ensure their legacy would live on in the future regardless of the outcome of their situation.
