abstract
  • Tristitian (pronounced Tris-ti-shi-an) is a particular type of intelligent Warp Entity that is known for luring psykers into their service as well as being particularly fond of causing madness, with both such things coinciding more often than not. They are also often referred to by other names, the most popular of which is The Seeders of Madness. Because they are a Warp Entity, they have never physically manifested in the material universe, which is part of why they are drawn to psykers in particular. They have, however, been known to manifest on incredibly rare occasion in ships travelling through the Warp. One of the most important things known about them is that they tend to attract the loyalty of psykers who they imbue with powers, the most common of which allow them to cause madness or control those of weaker will. One particular battle between the forces of the Imperium and the forces under the influence of a Tristitian was characterised by the near-total defeat of the Imperial forces because a vast majority of their personnel went completely and utterly mad as a result of a massive psykic attack, causing them to turn on each other in the most horrendous ways.
