The effects of his or her rule often assert malign effects on the land as well as his subjects. Besides her or his usual magical abilities, she or he often controls great armies. In particular, it is used as a moniker in universes where it is thought that pronouncing the villain's real name will bring bad luck or represents a negative omen. - Dark Lords is a term given to the chief deities of Evil and Chaos many of whom are imprisoned in the Void. They are thought to be formless shadowy beings in their basic state, just manifestations of pure Evil. The exact number is not known. The most postulated was twenty-three. The three chief Lords are known as Death and his two brothers Disease and Decay. Slangg and Tanit are sometimes referred to as such. Many scholars believe the spirit of War to be a further Dark Lord. Certainly Shekka, the ancient goddess of Witchcraft, is among their number and some believe The Malice is the diluted spirit of an unknown Dark Lord.
