abstract	Elections to the National Security Council took place in Istalia on 13 November 4044. Elections to the Parliament of Istalia were originally scheduled for February 4044, but were cancelled by Capo Supremo Antonio Battisti. The cancellation of the scheduled elections came alongside the indefinite suspension of Parliament altogether, following the destruction of the Palace of Parliament in 4042 by the Istalian People's Brigades, a terrorist group. Between 4042 and 4044, President Battisti held both executive and legislative power, in the absence of both chambers of Parliament. The suspension of the legislature triggered mass protests, which escalated to civil war on 24 January 4044. In the face of increasing opposition to his rule, Battisti announced the formation of National Security Council, a 90-member body to be composed of technocrats, which was intended to provide the de facto autocracy of Battisti with a more democratic image.
