| - Renewable energy sources, such as sun, wind or water all have one thing in common - they are environmentally friendly. However, their limited pollution is marred by several factors, such as low power yield (although this might change as the technology improves), inhibitation of development (wind farms need large areas of flat terrain with little obstruction; also, create a lot of noise), sensitivity to environmental factors (solar panels only work at full efficency on a sunny, cloudless day and don't work at all at night) or destruction (largest hydroelectric dams need massive basins, usually valleys that are flooded to supply the dam with water).

All in all, renewable energy is good for the environment, but not effective enough to replace current power generation methods, at least for now. Your best bet for a highly efficent, environmentally friendly source of power is nuclear energy.
