Weldon was the leader of the Varden for over twenty years before he was succeeded by Deynor. He led the Varden when Arya began representing her people as ambassador, and even traveled with her for a time. Arya gave Eragon a brief history of the leadership of the Varden.

That year, he was contacted by Doctor Julian Bashir who was trying to obtain Constable Odo's Starfleet Medical file with the aim of curing the morphogenic virus that had infected him. As Weldon was unable to assist the doctor, he put him through to his supervisor, Lieutenant Douglas. However, when she could not provide assistance, Bashir was again referred back to Weldon, who eventually put him through to the senior officer, Commander Hilliard. (DS9: "When It Rains...")
