| - Durry Quill was the hedgehog nephew of Gabriel Quill and the descendant of Brownspike O'Quill. He was good friends with Dandin, Mariel Gullwhacker, Rufe Brush, and Saxtus of Redwall Abbey. Durry joined with Dandin, Mariel, and Tarquin Longleap Woodsorrel in the journey to Terramort Isle. Along the way, he was captured by Captain Catseyes of the Seatalon, but was later rescued by Joseph the Bellmaker and the Trag. Durry fought in the battle of Terramort, and helped Tarquin, Mariel and Dandin, along with the Trag, in the battle against the followers of the pirate king Gabool the Wild. When Joseph the Bellmaker was about to go down while fighting off two searats, Durry used a piece of wall debris from Terramort to slay one of the searats, thus saving Joseph's life. Durry also claimed one of Gabool's ships, the Waveblade, and renamed it Gabriel after his uncle. The ship was taken apart later to bridge a ford. Following the adventures at Terramort, Durry became Cellarhog of Redwall, with his uncle as his assistant. After his uncle's death, he sailed to Southsward with Joseph, Hon Rosie, Rufe, and Foremole, hoping to help rescue Dandin, Mariel, and the creatures of Southsward from the evil warlord Urgan Nagru. At one point, Durry and Rosie were up in the rigging of the ship when a storm snapped the mast; they were blown through the air violently but came to rest, unharmed, on an island populated by toads. As the mast had landed upon and killed a vicious adder, the toads did not harm Durry and Rosie but instead revered them as "Bulgums" (magic creatures who fall from the sky). Later, when their ship Pearl Queen docked on the island for supplies, Durry and Rosie were reunited with their crew and continued the journey. During the quest, Durry and Rufe became firm friends with a young Guosim shrew named Fatch. In the battle for Southsward, Fatch and Rufe were both wounded (the shrew fatally), so Durry guarded the two wounded creatures from Nagru's horderats. He was later given one of the swords of Finnbarr Galedeep as an award; he named it "Finnbarr", after its owner. He then returned to Redwall, where he presumably lived out the rest of his days. Durry loved his "Nuncle Gabe" as he called him, and often spoke of him as unbelieving of some of the things Durry had seen. Durry also often speculated just what Gabriel would say if Durry returned in certain conditions.
