The Bulgarian–Hungarian wars were a series of conflicts which took place between the Bulgarian Empire and the Kingdom of Hungary between the 9th and 14th centuries. The areas of the conflict encompassed the northern and western Balkans, more specifically modern north-western Serbia, Romania and northern Bulgaria. After the reestablishment of the Bulgarian Empire in 1185 both states fought numerous conflicts for control over the provinces of Belgrade, Branicevo, Vidin and Severin Banat.
