April: Melemele Island only has one you see. Jon: Whoa. Ilima: For my challenge, you have to find and battle all the Rattata and Yungoos. However, for this challenge, you can only use one Pokemon. Afterwards you will have to battle Gumshoos and Raticate at the same time, again only using one Pokemon. So you have to use two Pokemon in total. Jon: Ok then. Ilima: Your companions will have to stand up there though to watch and support you. Ilima: That is also the exit when you have finished your trial. Jon: Right. Typhlosion, go with them. Jon: Litten, let’s get this trial started! Litten: Litten! Ilima: Right, Trial Begin! Jon: I know you can find them Litten! Jon: What?! These holes must be connected. Jon: This is impossible! Jon: Argh! Ilima: Good, now you battle. Jon: Right. Jon: Dodge then Ember! Jon: Litten, are you okay? April: Whoa! Drake: What is that? The Yungoos and Rattata start acting scared and begin to run towards their holes. Jon: Let’s go, new move. Use Flame Charge! Ilima: Well done, you have completed the first part of the trial. Jon: Great work Litten. And well done for learning a new move. Ilima: Right, the next part of our trial is outside. Mary: Raticate and Gumshoos. Jon: The boss Pokemon. Ilima: Totem Pokemon. Drake: Totem Pokemon get special stat boosts when they begin battle too. Jon: What?! Ilima: This is true. It tests the power of the challenger and if they are worthy of the prize. Jon: Right. Then Typhlosion. Ilima: Right. You will be taking both on at the same time. April: Good luck. Drake: You’ll win for sure! Jon: Yeah. Thanks! Ilima: Battle begin! Jon: I guess that is the stat boost. Let’s stay on our guard. Ilima: Attack as you wish Raticate and Gumshoos. Jon: Double Team eh. Now, Flamethrower! Jon: Now, Focus Blast! Jon: Still fast. Jon: Shadow Claw! Ilima: Considering this move has no effect, I wonder what he’ll do. Drake: Interesting! Jon: Now, Flamethrower! Jon: Man, that was a lot. Mary: Come on Jon. Jon: Now, Focus Blast! Mary: You see, Z-Crystals allow for the Pokemon’s Z move to be used. Jon: Ah, okay. Ilima: This is the Normalium Z. Jon: Thanks. But how do I use it. Ilima: Like this. Ilima: And that’s it. I’ll let the challenge guard know so you can all go through the route. Jon: Thanks Ilima. Narrator: After arriving in Verdant Cavern, Jon begun his first Island Challenge. While trying to capture all the Rattata and Yungoos around the cavern, Litten learned Flame Charge, earning Jon the win in his first part of the trial. Next, Jon and Typhlosion took part in a battle against Raticate and Gumshoos, causing a lot of damage on both sides, but Jon and Typhlosion got the win, earning Jon the Normalium-Z. Now, our heroes are heading to Iki Town so Jon can battle Hala.
