Synopsis
| - This story was originally printed in .
- A series of chance occurrences leads Kirk Langstrom to relapse into his Man-Bat identity after marrying Francine Lee, and the Batman must capture him and restore him to normalcy.
- Commissioner Gordon's friend, officer Jim McClean, has been murdered, and the Commissioner has vowed to catch his friend's killer. This prompts Barbara Gordon to do her own investigation as Batgirl. Tapping her father's phone, she overhears a phone message from "Batgirl" telling him to meet her at Park and Elm. Traveling there to catch her imposter in the act, Batgirl finds herself captured by thugs from a group called the Ice-Men. They soon capture Commissioner Gordon as well. Breaking free, Gordon, knowing that Ice-Man leader Zed Kurtz is responsible for McClean's death, finds McClean's gun and vows to shoot the crook with his victim's own weapon. However, it turns out that Zed is not alone as he exits his hideout with two body guys who appear to be aware that something is up... This story is continued next issue...
