Astraspis was an early fish with no jaw and no fins. Much like the Trilobite, it lived by feeding off the ocean floor, and possessed heavy armour on the head. It was 30 centimetres long.

No tenía aletas, solo la caudal, que era muy pequeñas, con su pesada cabeza y su pequeña cola era un animal muy lento. Usualmente era un plato muy pequeño para los euriptéridos como el Megalograptus o los ortoconos, estos se alimentaban de trilobites, pero en la extinción del Ordovícico si era presa de estos animales por la falta de comida.
