  • The obsidian quarrel "Thunderstroke" is a random artifact in ADOM. It is a very powerful missile, that as of v. 1.2.0 returns when fired. Despite its name, it does not exert magical effects on targets such as stunning or shock damage. In its unidentified form, Thunderstroke is an obsidian quarrel.
  • Thunderstroke is a unique Matriarchal Javelin exclusive to the Amazon in Diablo II. Whearas Titan's Revenge gives a more consistent boost to all Javelin and Spear Skills, Thunderstroke is often used by Javazons to defeat bosses quickly using Charged Strike and against other people in player versus player due to the increased lightning damage and the reduction to the target's lightning resistance. In these situations, Thunderstroke performs a lot better than Titan's Revenge.

Desirability
  • Thunderstroke is by far the best missile in the game, with a much greater damage potential than any other missile . Though its use in earlier versions was seriously limited by the fact that the PC can only get a single use out of it before having to try to collect it again, the fact that it now has the chance to return when fired makes it incredibly potent in ranged combat. It doesn't always return, though; so Archers that manage to find it are not completely invincible from monsters relying on melee combat.

In these situations, Thunderstroke performs a lot better than Titan's Revenge. Thunderstroke is not a general-purpose weapon for player versus monster if Lightning Fury is typically used. The stack size is quite small and lacks a self-replenishment modifier, which forces the player to frequently go back to town to repair their weapon. Thunderstroke also offers far fewer bonuses than Titan's Revenge, making Thunderstoke a niche-oriented weapon for boss kills as far as player versus monster is concerned. The +3 to Lightning Bolt is often overlooked as only hard points contribute to synergies. It can have use however, as Lightning Bolt is a piercing effect.
