He is perhaps best known for portraying Walter Powell on the sitcom Charles in Charge, which co-starred Scott Baio and Willie Aames, from 1987 to 1990. He made a guest appearance on M*A*S*H as Sergeant Tommy Gillis, an old childhood friend of Hewkeye's, and a news reporter and aspiring author who's also a enlisted Army infantryman, whom Hawkeye is forced to operate on after he gets wounded, and the dies on the operating table in the Season 2 episode titled "Sometimes You Hear the Bullet".
