  • Fabian Brunnström (b. February 6th 1985 in Helsingborg, Sweden) is a professional Left Wing who plays for the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League. Brunnström joined Färjestads BK in 2007-08 after having been a star in the Swedish Division 1 with Borås HC, which he helped promote to Allsvenskan. In 2008, Brunnström, 23 years old and undrafted, became the center of much hype and speculations in North America when medias began publishing articles about him, going as far as stating that about the two thirds of the National Hockey League's general managers were interested in signing him. On May 9, 2008, Brunnström signed his first NHL contract with the Dallas Stars. After being a healthy scratch in his first two games with the Stars, Brunnström was given his chance to play his first NHL game on October 15th 2008. He took his chance and shone brilliantly, registering a hat trick - he became only the third player in the league's history to score three goals in his first NHL game (the previous two being Alex Smart in 1943 and Réal Cloutier in 1979) en route to a 6-4 win over the Nashville Predators. He finished his rookie season with 17 tallies and 12 assists in 55 games.
