    Synopsis
    • After turning in a bounty, Jonah Hex is confronted by four men on the street. He shoots them all down. Setting up camp just outside town that night, Hex is approached by a little boy who admired his gunfighting prowess in town that day. The boy even shows hex his wooden sixgun, which he uses to emulate Hex and other gunfighters. The sight of the wooden sixgun brings back memories of when Hex was the boy's age and had his own wooden sixgun.
    • Hex sees that the boy has fallen asleep during his tale and he takes the boy back to town before setting off on his own, once more.
    • One day when Hex was just eleven, his father tasked him with chopping firewood and mending the fence that lined their property. Papa Hex went off to tend to some "moonshine whiskey business." Boys will be boys, and Hex ran around in the fields shooting his wooden sixgun at rocks and wildlife. In the midst of his playing, Hex finds a man who has been shot and helps him back to Hex's home where he helps dress a bandage. The man, who turns out to be stagecoach robber Bart Mallory, gives Hex ten dollars for his trouble. Mallory starts to give Hex tips on how to shoot a gun when there is a knock at the door. It is the sheriff and his posse, asking if Hex has seen Mallory. Hex replies that he has not and the posse leaves.
    • Mallory lets Hex in on a secret. He is planning to rob the Haverville bank. Excited by the prospect, Hex asks to come along. Mallory agrees and brings Hex with him to the bank. Mallory gives Hex a real pistol and tells him to wait outside the bank as lookout. Mallory walks into the bank, where the sheriff and his men are waiting, having been told of Mallory's plans by a lover of his. Mallory is shot to death by the sheriff and his posse. Hex is scolded for accompanying Mallory to the bank and is sent home, where he gets disciplined by his drunk father for not chopping wood nor for fixing the fence.
