But that's not what you're here for. You want to know what the fuck they have to do with Doctor Who, right? One of their early side projects, in 1988, was called The Timelords, under pseudonyms Time Boy and Lord Rock. Their goal was to write the worst #1 single of all time. "Doctorin' the Tardis" was basically a mashup of the Doctor Who theme and Gary Glitter's "Rock 'n Roll Part Two", years before anyone had heard of mashups, or knew that Gary Glitter was banging 12-year-olds. It quickly went to #1 despite not a single critic giving it a positive review. Bravo, KLF.

  • ...as well as The Timelords, Disco 2000, 2K, K2 Plant Hire, The K Foundation and of course The One World Orchestra Featuring the Massed Pipes And Drums of the Children’s Free Revolutionary Volunteer Guards. To read up on a complete histroy of the group, the best place to start would be the band's Wikipedia Entry.

  • Hi! I'm Ford Timelord. I'm a car, and I've made a record... I mixed and matched some tunes we all know and love, got some mates down and made this record. Sounds like a hit to me!

  • ...as well as The Timelords, Disco 2000, 2K, K2 Plant Hire, The K Foundation and of course The One World Orchestra Featuring the Massed Pipes And Drums of the Children’s Free Revolutionary Volunteer Guards. Comprising Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty, the group achieved their greatest success in the period 1989-92, when they were known as The KLF and were associated with a style they called Stadium House (basically, Acid House with pop/rock production and sampled noises from cheering crowds). However, they also dabbled in other genres, usually Electronic Music (ambient, various house subgenres, techno, alternative dance), and became infamous for their satirical media stunts. For instance, when they were sued for unlicensed Sampling by ABBA, they responded by torching copies of 1987 (What the Fuck Is Going On?) in a field (a photo of this became the cover of their next album). To read up on a complete histroy of the group, the best place to start would be the band's Wikipedia Entry.

In the video, their car, Ford Timelord (a Ford Galaxie cop car left over from Superman IV), smashes up Daleks that are even cheaper than the ones used on the show. Of course you can watch it on YouTube. Officially more canon than Planet and Destiny combined. They also wrote a book called The Manual (How to Have a Number One the Easy Way), "a step by step guide to achieving a No.1 single with no money or musical skills", which is officially more canon than all of the PDAs added together unless you count The Infinity Doctors, and if you buy it instead of pirating it, you've missed the point.
