Kreacher was an aged house-elf who served the House of Black with fanatical loyalty for most of his life, until he was left to Harry Potter upon the death of Sirius Black in 1996. He was particularly fond of "his mistress" Walburga Black, who died in 1985, but whose portrait still shrieked orders from the wall in the front hall of the Black house. After Mrs Black's death, Kreacher let the home fall into disarray, doing little, if any, cleaning.

  • Per anni si è aggirato da solo per la casa di famiglia prendendo ordini dal ritratto della sua vecchia padrona. Venerava la madre di Sirius, ma era anche abbastanza attaccato a suo padre. Non aveva un buon rapporto, invece, con Sirius Black, che uscito da Azkaban andò ad abitare nella nobile casata. Diventerà di futura proprietà di Harry Potter (con il quale in passato non andava molto d'accordo). Harry, nel sesto libro, chiederà all'elfo insieme a Dobby di spiare il compagno Draco Malfoy. Nach dem Tod von Sirius erbte Harry als Patensohn das Haus der Blacks und Kreacher. Harry Potter schickte ihn aber nach Hogwarts in die Küche. Als Harry, Ron und Hermine im siebten Teil wieder in das Haus der Blacks kamen, musste Kreacher ihnen erzählen was er über das Medaillon von Slytherin weiß. Danach sind Harry und Ron (Hermine war es schon immer) freundlich zu ihm. Seither ist Kreacher viel netter geworden.
