Methylated spirits is one of the few chemicals which kills mites on contact. While it can be used on the skin as knockdown this method of killing mites is not recommended, is highly dangerous, and is only listed here as a historical reference for how this modern problem was dealth with in days past. In ye olden days methods for dealing with mite related problems were far simpler and direct. One of the most common methods was to douse infected skin with various harsh chemicals to drive the mites out and cleanse the skin.
