Virginia Transit Company was the operator of transit service in Richmond and Norfolk, Virginia from December 29, 1944, when it replaced the Virginia Electric and Power Company, until 1973, when it was replaced by Tidewater Regional Transit in Norfolk and Greater Richmond Transit Company in Richmond. Originally a streetcar operator, VTC began conversion of its lines in Richmond to motor buses in May, 1947. On November 25, 1949 the last streetcars ran in Richmond.
