W Europie i Brazylii konsola odniosła większą popularność.
  • The Sega Master System or SMS for short, is an 8-bit cartridge-based video game console that was manufactured by Sega. Its original Japanese incarnation was the Sega SG-1000 Mark III. In the European market, this console launched Sega onto a competitive level comparable to Nintendo, due to its wider availability, but failed to put a dent in the North American and Japanese markets. The Master System was released as a direct competitor to the NES/Famicom. The system ultimately failed to topple its Nintendo competitor, but has enjoyed over a decade of life in secondary markets, especially Brazil. Image:Stub.gif this article is a stub. • Das Sega Master System (kurz SMS; jap. Sie stand in direkter Konkurrenz zum Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Das Maskottchen des Systems war Alex Kidd.
  • First released in Japan under the name, Sega Mark III and then given the name Master System when released in the US. Even though Mark III is the correct name, it is far better known as the Master System.
  • Das Sega Master System (kurz SMS; jap.マスターシステム, Masutā Shisutemu) ist eine von Sega entwickelte 8-Bit-Konosle, die zur Zeiten des Nintendo Entertainment System (kurz: NES) mit konkurrierte. Damals war noch Alex Kidd das Masskotchen der Konsole.
  • The Sega Master System was black. It stood in stark contrast to the NES, which was white. Also, unlike the NES, the Sega Master System did not have a cool robot you could buy that spun a gyroscope. Also unlike the NES, the Sega Master System had like seven games you could buy. Nintendo quickly learned it could expand its game repository by licensing out the development and manufacture of its cartridges to other software companies, but Sega just made its own games for its own system. The result was a total lack of game inventory.
  • The Sega Master System was a videogame system released by Sega. Two Smurf videogames were released for this system in Europe, such as: * The Smurfs * The Smurfs Travel the World
  • The Sega Master System was a console introduced by Sega in 1986, and was capable of 8-bit graphics. It was a rival to the very successful Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) (the Master System was regarded as being superior to the NES in terms of color and graphics) but failed to match its sales in North America and Japan. However, it was successful in Brazil and Europe. Its life was long enough to see four Sonic games (five in Brazil), before its discontinuation in 1991 in North America. In Brazil, it was still being produced.
  • During the mid 80's Nintendo had revitalized the gaming industry, and thus led in many competitors. While Atari failed to make a stand with the 5200 and 7200, Sega was the biggest competitor against the Nintendo Juggernaut. It was a superior console, but lacked quality titles and third party support, as Nintendo had a lock-down on thier third party supporters. In the end, it only got roughly 11% of the market share in Japan and America, but it was loved more in Europe and Brazil, more so than the NES.
  • The Sega Master System (a.k.a. Mark III in Japan) was Sega's step into the gaming world, in 1986. Sega also released the 'Sega Master System II' in 1991, to serve as a 'budget console' to those who could not afford a Mega Drive/Sega Genesis, which was initially released 2 years before, in 1989.
