Utilizing the advanced sublight engine technology of both Sienar Fleet Systems and the Yag'Dhul system natives, the Givin, the Valkyrie was developed strictly as a strike interceptor. Once fully into primary development two of the Valkyrie's laser cannons were put on swivel joints to give it a small, yet useful advantage in close quarters combat. With the addition of these swivel cannons along with the fighters great speed and maneuverability it became quite clear that it would require pilots of great skill to use the fighter effectively. Therefore this fighter caused its own advanced flight course at the Confederate Naval Academy.
