Tom Eaves and Derek Riordan both made their home debuts, and first-year professional Ross Staley was named on the bench for the first time in a senior matchday squad. Riordan's first appearance at the Mem came despite him being at the birth of his daughter in Scotland earlier that day, resulting in him having to fly back to Bristol for the game.
