Alexandra Russo was born on the agricultural planet of Taanab and was raised on a hop farm in the beautiful and bountiful Landu Valley near the city of Pandath in the Northern Hemisphere. Growing up on a farm was hard work to which Alex learned a strong work ethic early on in life. Taanab had come away from the Galactic Civil War relatively untouched with a thriving ag industry paving the way for economic success for the planet and sector. Unfortunately, a notorious pirate gang in the sector wanted in on their prosperity and did seasonal raids during harvest time. Without much of a planetary defense force at the time, the farmers had little to stop them. During one of these raids, the pirates destroyed her family's farm, taking all the 'liquid gold' and killing her family in the process. Alex was the only family member to survive the raid. With no place to live and no other family alive, The young teenager was forced to move to the city and find work. One of the jobs she'd taken was a janitorial one cleaning the hangars after hours at the spaceport in Pandath. A veteran pilot of the GCW kept a private hangar there and noticed Alex's fascination with a Z-95 Headhunter he was refitting for a crop dusting business he was starting up. He befriended her, offering to teach her about aeronautical mechanics and how to fly in exchange for working as a crop duster for him. The older pilot often shared with her his daring exploits during the war, which lit a fire in her belly to become a starfighter pilot herself. Shortly after her 18th birthday, Alex applied to the New Republic Academy for pilot training and was accepted. Upon finishing her initial pilot training, Alexandra chose to return to Taanab and enlist in the newly formed Taanab Defense Force. She flew with a squadron of T-65 X-Wings called the 'Yellow Aces' commanded by no other than the veteran pilot that had once befriended her and inspired her to fly in the first place. Under his guiding hand once again along with her hard work ethic and raw determination to be the best, Alexandra proved herself to be a top starfighter pilot for the Aces. When her commander heard there was an opening in Rogue Squadron, he sent an application for consideration on the aspiring pilot's behalf. When Alex received her acceptance letter for an interview, she was totally surprised, elated and scared to death. Strapping in anyway, Alex took off for Telos IV seeking clear skies and a chance to fly with the best of the best.... Rogue Squadron.LIfe in the New Republic
Upon arriving on Telos, Alexandra was accepted for transfer from the Tanaab Yellow Aces into Rogue Squadron as a recruit in the New Republic Navy. The ace pilot quickly made her way up the Navy career ladder, filling the shoes of Executive Officer for Rogue Squadron as a lieutenant, then later to the high rank of Commander and Chief of Naval Operations. She also commanded the NRDF's 4th Fleet for a short time. Her flagship was the Independence, a MC80. During her time in the New Republic Navy, Alex had two romances. Her first was with then, Captain Torr Redeker, CO of Rogue Squadron. After about a year of dating behind the scenes, they became secretly engaged. But their relationship faltered after the Echani went MIA, then a few months later returned as a POW and a changed man. It was a bitter breakup, but they worked hard to maintain their professional relationship and then later, friendship once again. A few months after the breakup with Redeker, Alex and Lt. Commander Mazen Darksun struck up a camaraderie when the former Rogue Leader returned to active duty after recovering from an auditory injury he received when his X-wing exploded from a mechanical malfunction in the hangar. Their somewhat-unusual friendship at first soon grew into a romantic lasting-one leading to a marriage between the two ace pilots. Shortly after they were married, Mazen got the nod to take over as Rogue Squadron's CO for the second time in his career. Unfortunately, his hearing problem resurfaced and medically grounded him from flying starfighters. Mazen then moved into naval operations as Alex took a fleet command. When the Darksun's learned that they were to become parents, the couple decided it was time for them to retire from the military and become private citizen's of the New Republic. About a year after their daughter, Elizabeth or Lily for short, was born, Alex began to get that itch to fly again. With Mazen's aeronautical consulting business going well, the former Rogue re-upped with the New Republic Navy Reserves as a pilot. She was given command of Silver Blade Squadron, a reserve squadron made up of mostly retired active duty veteran pilots based out of Telos. It was just enough flying to satisfy that itch and maintain a decent home life that Alex so desired with her husband and young daughter, or at least she hoped so as the galaxy was forever changing it's colors. After the attack on Telos IV by the Empire, the Darksun's marriage fell apart and they divorced with Mazen and their daughter going to live on his homeworld of Chandrila with his family while Alex stayed on Telos and took the position as Commander of the New Republic Starfighter Corps. Three years later, Lily had a near-death expericence, which brought Mazen and Alex back together again. They decided to give it another try and remarried. Alexandra shortly afterwards was courted by the aeronautical compamy Incom Corporation to come work for them as a consultant and test pilot. Not able to turn down the incredible offer, she accepted and stepped down from Starfighter Command, moving to Fresia where their headquarters are located while still maintaining her home on Telos where Mazen and their daughter lived. Alex commuted back and forth much to the displeasure of her family so she can have it all for about a year, then decided to come home for good to be with her family as her and Mazen were expecting their second child. About four months after Max Darksun was born, the Taanabian was appointed to the late Councilor Marques' senate seat. After her tenure as a ranking Councilor in the Senate, Alexandra was made Prime Minister under Chief of State Adrian Loran. That tenure was cut short unfortunately when the Prime Minister's ship was ambushed by the Empire. She was held as a POW for a time being, then rescued by the Republic. The after effects of her torture and captivity, short as it was though, had taken a toll on the usually strong Taanabian. Alex retreated from public life and now enjoys being a civilian with her husband, who has been there supporting her mental and physical recovery every step of the way, and seeing to her family's needs that often were neglected during her military and political career.
