Backfire will cause the weapon to backfire and attack it's user instead of it's target. This has a 20% chance to occur, but seems more random than that when you're on the recieving end of a backfiring weapon! A backfiring area attack rolls the chance to backfire for every split of the area, which can get ugly if you attack five enemies and hit yourself three times.

This has a 20% chance to occur, but seems more random than that when you're on the recieving end of a backfiring weapon! A backfiring area attack rolls the chance to backfire for every split of the area, which can get ugly if you attack five enemies and hit yourself three times. Backfire is NOT direct damage like Recoil and Ouch. It is a perfectly normal use of the attack which just happens to hit you, so it will be affected by your armor and stat damage and will deliver effects and so on. Backfire is flawless; your backfiring attack will never miss you, even if it would've missed your real target and even if you had no chance of hitting yourself with that attack normally. Backfire overrides Wild.
