Peel wasn't much of a fan of Blur (including publicly apologising to singer Damon Albarn in 1995 on What The Magazines Say after Peel's son, William, claimed that his father was obnoxious to Albarn at the Phoenix Festival) until the late 90's, when the band displayed a lo-fi American rock influence with their self-titled album, released in 1997. Following the group's initial split in 2002, he took an interest in the musical pursuits of the former members. Peel wasn't that keen on Damon Albarn's Gorillaz project, but did give airplay to Albarn's 2003 demo LP 'Democrazy', which was a compilation of 14 original solo demos recorded in hotel rooms during a tour with Blur. The track "I Need A Gun" from the 'Democrazy' LP was later reworked into the Gorillaz track 'Dirty Harry', a top 10 UK hit i

- Damon Albarn (English pronunciation: /ˈdeɪmən ˈɔːlbɑrn/, born 23 March 1968) is an English singer-songwriter and record producer who has been involved in many high profile projects and collaborations throughout his career. He is perhaps best known internationally for his current role as the lead vocalist and songwriter of Gorillaz, whose first two studio albums had sold more than 20 million copies combined by 2007. He came to prominence, particularly in the United Kingdom, as the frontman and primary songwriter of Britpop band Blur, and has also helmed projects such as The Good, the Bad & the Queen, Monkey: Journey to the West and Mali Music. Albarn has released multiple singles and albums which have charted at #1, both in the UK and internationally.
- Damon Albarn (baptised Damien All-Bran), born in 1968 to a happy cockney family in Northern London, and is a British musician as well as the cheeky cockney guitarist of the infamous Britpop (the greatest genre of music ever known) band Bleugh. He's known for finding new ways of simplifying playing the guitar, such as the Pendle picker, allowing himself to pick two different power chords at once. Real fans know Song 2 sucks compared to everything else- and only retards immediately think of that as a Blur song.

One of his main hobbies is musical archeology, and he uses any ancient hit song or melody or long forgotten genre to spice up the music used in his spectacular (well, not really) pantomime gigs with the Monkees. Albarn is currently on holidays in Ghana on a voodoo healing course, as he happily hopes this will help him restore and find his former voice. He's also talked candidly of his heroin habit and multiple orgy scam which destroyed a nation of randy teenaged girls' hearts. When he returns from Ghana, he is to be brought to court for crimes against humanity. It is said that a certain Graham Coxon was assaulted violently on a number of occasions because any time he played a guitar, it didn't sound right. Real fans know Song 2 sucks compared to everything else- and only retards immediately think of that as a Blur song.

[1] After Peel's death, Albarn paid tribute to the man on John Peel's Record Box, broadcast on Channel 4 in 2005.
