Green and two squads from their platoon, were assigned by Cmdr. Nathan Hairston to assist Colonel Thomas Bushell in his investigation of the theft of The Two Georges. He and the other Marines accompanied Bushell to Buckley Bay to assist in the capture of four suspected Sons of Liberty. The party was dropped off by HMS Grampus about five miles north of Buckley Bay and marched south to the town. On reaching the clearing containing Buckley Bay, Green ordered Fuller to take Corporal Wainwright's squad around the town to the south side to block any possible escape in that direction. Fuller did so and then had half the squad sprint into town while Wainwright and the other half of the squad covered them. When Fuller's demisquad took cover, Wainwright's sprinted in and took positions in advance of Fuller's. When the Sons began firing, Fuller and his squad returned fire. He requested covering fire from Green and when the other squad did so, Fuller began a flanking action which forced the Sons out of the abandoned grocer's shop they had made into their residence. Shortly the two squads succeeded in killing two Sons and capturing a third. Fuller then found and reported to Bushell and Captain Samuel Stanley who had killed the fourth Son. Bushell had Fuller take them to question the surviving Son but the man refused to answer any questions. Instead, he demanded to speak to a solicitor. Fuller suggested Bushell take a stroll in the woods and that he would make the Son sing but Bushell turned down the offer.
