Mohammed Benchicou () (born 1952 in Miliana) is the director of the Algerian newspaper Le Matin. In June 2004, he was sentenced to two years in prison after the publication of an autobiography denouncing corruption under the rule of president Abdelaziz Bouteflika . His co-writers include caricaturist Ali Dilem and several journalists now working at L'Humanité french newspaper. In 2006, he was the recipient of the PEN/Barbara Goldsmith Freedom to Write Award.
