The became the secret enforcers of the new Qadi, and guards of the most important memkers of the Caliphate. Their training facility was near a hidden oasis several miles from Medinaat al-Salaam, and new recruiters came each year, handpicked from those City Guard who were judged worthy. Most of them were taught the ways of the Assassin Keeper, and only a handful of the potential trainees were taught the techniques of the Assassin Slayer.
