Sid was an elderly gentleman who was a resident at the Badgerbrook Nursing Home. As Sid and fellow resident Frank Nichols were enjoying a game of draughts in the dayroom, newly-appointed cleaner Cilla Battersby-Brown interrupted their game with her sarcastic and ageist remarks. When Frank commented that although she was a gobby mare, he wouldn't "kick her out of bed for spilling a few crumbs", Sid was quick to remind Frank that he had no feeling in his legs and wouldn't be able to kick her anywhere!
