During this time period Monk noticed that Martin bought two fishing lures which he claimed he would use one for fishing and one for his lucky hat. Later that night while he was bathing during a storm his wife Kathy Willowby started playing country music then threw the electric radio into the bathtub with Martin, killing him instantly. She later dressed him in his fishing gear and set him off into a nearby lake claming lighting killed him so she could collect the insurance money.
