In 1910, the Milwaukee factory produced the Reliance Type D. The hp (kW) version used the same Famous engine as the IHC Type B 20-HP built in the Akron, Ohio and Upper Sandusky, Ohio plants at the same time. The Type D also was built in a hp (kW) single-cylinder version. The hp (kW) version used a 2-cylinder engine that was the first International Harvester engine designed specifically for tractor use. The cylinders were horizontal, laid side-by-side. The first Reliance tractors used the same evaporative cooling system as earlier IHC models but a distinctive rectangular radiator was developed for the Type D 45-HP.
