  • The Prestige Uppercut series is a line of electric guitars produced by Hoshino Gakki and sold under the Ibanez brand. The line was introduced in 2015 as a subseries of the Prestige line. Prestige indicates that an instrument is built to the rigorous quality standards, with the high quality components and unique features. The models in the line are handcrafted in Japan. The Prestige Uppercut line is distinguished by the use of Bare Knuckle pickups which are made in England. In terms of price, the models in the Prestige Uppercut line generally slot between the "regular" Prestige line and the even higher end J Custom line. The line debuted in 2015 with three models each featuring a different body style: the RGD7UC, ARZ6UC and FR6UC. The S6UC was added a bit later in 2015 with the RG6UCS with stainless steel frets added in late 2016. Similarities between the models include a stripped-down aesthetic with dark colored flat finishes and ebony fretboards devoid of any inlays. To date, all models have a dual humbucker pickup configuration and have high-end appointments such as Gotoh tuning machines. For 2017 "S" models with stainless steel frets were introduced. These included the FR6UCS and ARZ6UCS
