In his absence, Bane's former friend Soopan capitalized upon Bane's notoriety by masquerading as Bane in order to establish himself as a criminal kingpin in the city. During the Clone Wars, Cad Bane returned to New Tayana and confronted his old friend, to warn Soopan off from using his identity.
