- An Omnibus (Latin for "for all") is usually several novels/issues collected in a single volume. In most cases, each installment had been published in some form, either as a standalone work, or as a part of another collection. Omnibuses are often published as a way to earn more money, or to release out-of-print installments. Another occasion is for a milestone, like the anniversary of a work or for the release of the last installment in a series. The publishing industry sometimes refers to these as "bind-ups". | - The first Aliens/Predator/Aliens vs. Predator Omnibus to be released was Aliens vs. Predator Omnibus: Volume 1, published in June 2007. Subsequent Omnibus editions from the franchises followed at one or two month intervals. While comprehensive, the Aliens, Predator and Aliens vs. Predator Omnibus releases are not utterly exhaustive and a number of comics, chiefly from the Aliens line, are not included. Among the titles omitted are the small number of comics to which Dark Horse does not own the rights, most notably Alien: The Illustrated Story, as well as the various non-canon crossover comics that introduced the Xenomorphs and Yautja to other comic book franchises; according to Dark Horse editor Chris Warner, an Omnibus containing these stories was not produced as the potential profit would not have matched the cost of compiling it, especially as any profit made would need to be split with the other publishing companies involved. The only crossover comics available in Omnibus form are Ghost #5 and X #18, both part of the Hunting the Heroes: The Predators Attack! event, which are collected in Omnibus titles for their respective series. Furthermore, unlike some of the other Omnibus lines from Dark Horse, the Aliens, Predator and Aliens vs. Predator Omnibus releases have not proven to be an ongoing project, meaning that all of the Aliens, Predator, Aliens vs. Predator and Prometheus comic books published after 2008 remain uncollected in this format. Not counting comics published after the Omnibus editions were released, titles that are missing from the collections include Aliens: Countdown, Aliens: Tribes, Aliens: Renegade, Alien3: Terminal Addiction, Operation: Aliens, Alien vs. Predator: Thrill of the Hunt and the film adaptations Aliens: Newt's Tale, Alien3, Alien Resurrection and Predator 2. Also missing are the non-canon Aliens: Space Marines mini-comics and the incomplete series Aliens: Crusade.

En España, la editorial Planeta DeAgostini viene publicando algunos de los volúmenes omnibus dentro de la misma colección de tapa dura que otras recopilaciones completas.

Similar to the omnibus release is the manga industry's tankobon, which is a recopilatory volume that collects a couple months' worth of weekly releases of one single manga, in contrast to the weekly releases published on periodic anthologies such as Shounen Jump. For instance, if people were only credited in one of the middle episodes, there was a chance — depending on who was doing the editing and how it was being done — that their credit might not appear at the end of the so-called omnibus edition. Also, on those rare occasions when a reprise of a cliffhanger was a different take of the same scene from the previous episode, the editor would have to choose which of the two performances to edit out. By and large, though, an omnibus edition was not so heavily edited as to create a significantly different version of the narrative.
