The Rev. William Henry Lax (5 January 1868-6 February 1937) was a Methodist clergyman and local politician in the East End of London. Born in Lancashire, he trained as a minister before moving to London in 1897. In 1902 he was appointed minister of Poplar and Bow Mission on the East India Dock Road. From 1906-23 he was an alderman on Poplar Borough Council, and was Mayor of Poplar in 1918-19.
