Cho-Hag was the King of Algaria and Chief of the Clan Chiefs during the time of Garion. When Cho-Hag was a child he contracted an illness that left his legs so weak that he could not stand up unaided. Despite this, when he was on horse-back he was as good as any other Algar. He had no heirs but adopted Hettar as his son after finding him when he was left for dead. Hettar turned out to be a Sha-Dar, someone with the telepathic ability to communicate with horses. At the battle of Thull Mardu, Cho-Hag had a fight with his enemy Taur Urgas from which he emerged victorious. In King of the Murgos, King Urgit expressed how eternally grateful he was to him for it. He was a skilled fighter, an excellent horseman and a good strategist.

He was a skilled fighter, an excellent horseman and a good strategist. King Cho-Hag, sitting on his horse on a hilltop some distance to the west, nodded his approval as he watched the carnage. "Good," he said finally. He looked around at the eager faces of the Algar clansmen clustered around him. "All right, my children," he said calmly, "let's go cut up the Murgo reserves." - Enchanters' End Game
