- Ebony is the darkest level a Jewel can possibly be. It is a level darker than Black and a level deeper in what the Blood call the Abyss.
- Ebony is described as being a black bird.
- Ebony was a dense black wood which had a very smooth finish when polished, making it valuable as an ornamental wood. This wood came from trees which could be found in the southern coasts of Rokugan and in the Mantis Isles.
- Discovered and colonized less than twenty years ago, Ebony is only now becoming self-sufficient. Much of its surface is temperate forest, but huge areas of land are dominated by black rock. Black sand beaches rim very deep oceans, popular with Bahuji immigrants. From orbit, the planet is as dark as Ivory is light. That being said, its environment is quite pleasant. The Shau'ghunate Guard has an infantry training facility on Ebony.
- Ebony (genus Diospyros) is a dense black wood, most commonly yielded by several species in the genus Diospyros, but ebony may also refer to other heavy, black (or dark coloured) woods from unrelated species.
- Ebony was a silent Exile bodyguard to Dame White.

- Ebony is a cat who once lived in the Metropolis Zone. She possesses many magical (or magickal) abilities but carries no licences to use them. Her travels have seen her become friends with a pacifist Super Sonic, Sonic the Hedgehog, Knuckles the Echidna and Porker Lewis but her best friend is Pyjamas, a psychic resident of The Neighbourhood.
- Ebony is a major character in the first, second, third, fourth and fifth series of The Tribe, and the follow-up novels A New World and A New Dawn. Ambitious, manipulative and cunning, Ebony is a complex character who is neither good or purely evil - she often betrays the Mall Rats but redemption is gained by incidents where she saves them. Despite being power-hungry and out for number one, Ebony will, at times, show compassion to those who she loves.

Horntail Cave.
- Ebony is almost as good as Ethel's Nightstar. Ebony often goes hunting at night.

- Ebony learned magic through fifteen years of dedication and personal sacrifice. At some point she met and developed a rivalry with Omen, who believed his magic was superior to hers. Ebony and Pyjamas attended a protest against Robotnik's destruction of the park in the Metropolis Zone, hoping to save the sentient Ancient Trees that grew in the park. When the protesters were accosted by Troopers, she used her magic to fight them off, and was aided by Knuckles the Echidna. She soon encountered her old rival Omen, but he managed to defeat her with a new spell he had learned, trapping her with green tendrils that sprang out of the ground. She was saved when Knuckles convinced the Ancient Trees that some "flesh creatures" were worth saving, leading them to use their powers to throw Omen and his
