Synopsis
| - Zeiss finds someone who can repair his lenses, while the G.C.P.D. face off against the FBI over the alien which has been granted sanctuary by a Gotham cathedral. Batman leaves Batgirl to watch over the cathedral situation while he goes on patrol. Zeiss, meanwhile, receives his mended lenses from a courier called Pete, whom he kills, believing him to be a man who trades in information. Later in the night, Commissioner Akins calls Batman in because his men have been ordered to stand down at the cathedral: the FBI and/or DEO must be planning to act soon. At the cathedral, Batgirl stalls the DEO troops who are about to invade the premise. Batman tells the clergymen that they must tell him where their 'patient' is if they want to save him. Father Nick warns him that not only is the alien dying, but he doesn't seem to think in the same way that humans do. When Batman's hand meets that of the alien, their minds are link. He witnesses the destruction of the alien's homeworld at the hands of [[W:C:DC:Imperiex-Prime

quotation
| - You can't fight fate, and you can't survive alone... I can't help but notice that almost seems like a definition of who I am... A person who's trying to do both.
